JDE Basics

ERP means Enterprise Resource Planning
 
  • Enterprise means a group of companies
  • Resources means building,capital,labor etc
  • Planning means efficient way of utilizing the resources in a certain period 
 
ERP Languages (Products):
SAP,TALLY,JDE etc
 
History:
  • It was introduce in 1960 with no name.
  • It was introduced in 1970 as MRP1(Material Requiremental Planning).
  • It was introduced in 1980 as MRP2(Manufacture resource Planning).
  • It was introduced in 1990 as ERP by Gratner group.
 
ERP Definition:
 
 It is a business management system.That includes many diverse set of modules which are inter related or integrated.
 
JDE:
 
  • It was named after 3 persons that is Jack Thampson,Dan Gregory and Edward mc vancy.
  • JDE was introduced in 1977
  • JDE is used in small and medium scale industries.
  • In 1100 countries around 6600 companies are using JDE.
  • It is economically less in cost.
  • JDE was first bought by ‘People Soft’ in 2003 and named it as “enterprise one”. Oracle bought it in 2005 and named it as “Oracle JDEdwards Enterprise one”

Advantages of JDE:

  • Easy  for business management.
  • Cost efficiency.
  • Time saving.
  • User  friendly.

 
JDE products:

  •   Picasso: It was introduced in 1977.
  •    Elegant soft: It was introduced in 1977.
  •     World soft: It is used in IBM. It is a character user interface. Its security is high.
  •     One world: It was introduced in 1996.Features: GUI, OL.
  •      One world XE: It was introduced in 2000.It has an additional feature of tokens concept.

                        OL+Tokens=OMW (Object Management Workbench)
OMW is an interface between user and JDE environment.

World soft release numbers:
                                                A.7.3 and A.8.1
One world : B7331 and B7332
           B: Build number.
          73: Release number.
         3: Version.
        1,2: modification specific number.
