Object Management WorkBench

Object Management Workbench (OMW)
  •    OMW is a change management System consisting of models, methods, techniques, and other tools for One World development.
  •  It acts as an interface between user and JDE environment.

     The OMW systems are:
  1.       GUI System: Unifies all development in an intuitive interface.
  2.       Configuration System:  Controls all development from a central location.
  3.        Logging System: Tracks all program changes automatically.

        Graphical User Interface system:
  1.  Understanding the OMW
  2.   Working with OMW
  3.   Working with Project
  4.   Working with Object
  5.   Working with Token
  6.   Working with Use
  7.   Working with Attachments

Understanding of OMWTo understand OMW we must be familiar with the following:
  • OMW Concepts
  • OMW Interface
  • OL and NON OL objects

OMW Concepts: It includes
Ø Project: It is a collection of objects and users.
Ø Default Project: It is a personal project used for Research and development.
Ø User Role: It defines the user function within the project.
Ø Allowed Actions: These are the rules that defines the actions that may be performed by a user assigned to a user role.
Ø Tokens: These are used for minimising one user overwriting another user changes on the project.
Environments:
The environments we use in OMW are:
·        Development (DV)(21)
·        Testing  (PY)(26)
·        Production(PD)(38)
·        Pristine (PS)

Distributed Computing Environment(DCE)

DCE:
It means Distributed Computing Environment. All modern ERP packages use DCE as a underline system to support ERP operations.

Data storage is not generally done on one system but it was shared across various systems on the network

COMPONENTS OF DCE:

1.Client: It provides the user interface for any one using DCE. A client generates several requests to various servers based on user requirement.
  • Fat Client:  It has more hard disk space, high processing power and memory. It works as a workstation.
  • Thin Client: It executes applications from a database on a server. Compared to fat client it's cost is less.
  • Zero Client: It  can only display information and can take the input.
       2. Server: It is used for exchanging data from client to system administrator.
       3.  Network: A set of applications executed in different systems rather than a single computer and all these different systems are connected together called network.
       4.  Security: A security system prevents computing and unauthorized employees from accessing the confidential information.

Technical Modules

Technical Modules: These are classified as follows

1.Fundamentals
  • Object Management Workbench(OMW)
  • Data Dictionary(DD)
  • Table Design Aid(TDA)
  • Business View(BV)
  • Data Structures(DS)
2.Application Design
  • Interactive applicationForms
Forms:It is an interface between user and database.
  • Batch application:  'Reports' and 'Table Conversion'.
Reports: It prints the data in a useful format.

Table conversion: It is used for converting the data.

3.Event Rules:
  • Business Function Event Rules: It is an encapsulated, reusable business logic created through event rules rather than C-programming.
  • Embedded Event Rules: It is specific to a particular table interactive or batch applications, these are not reusable.

4.Business Functions:
  • NER: It is predefined in JDE scripting Language.
  • C: It is used with C codes.

5.Caching Storage of data while creation of any application.

6.Additional Features:
  • Processing Option
  • Transaction Processing Option
  • Multiple currency
  • Record Locking
  • Menu Design
7.Messaging:
  • Error
  • Interactive
  • Batch

8.Debugging: It is used to provide the state of program at any point of execution.
  • Event Rule Debugging: It is used to debug forms,Reports and Table Conversions.
  • Visual C++ Debugging: It is used for debugging C business functions.
  • M and D Debugger: At the run time of C business function we use M&D Debugger.

9.web applications: It is developed using java code.

10.Performance: By trouble shooting we can increase the performance.

Functional Modules

MODULE:
